Kristin Kuhn's interactive wood assemblages "are intended to
engage not just the viewers eyes but their mind and hands as well." The colorful
works combine; lights with switches, doors that open, parts that pull, push,
turn, stack, hook and click.
While the view interacts, and even "plays" with the work, images
and text provoke thoughts in response to political-societal issues such as, our
polarized society and concepts of truth.
Many
of the assemblages are constructed to function as kind of game that allows the
participants to establish the rules, if any. The intent is to prompt discussion
as type of engagement. In this way the player becomes an aspect of the
assemblage.
Kristin Kuhns began exhibiting art while living on Maui, Hawaii
25 years ago. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Art from Western Oregon
University in 1988 and maintains a studio at her home in West Salem. She has
served as a part-time adjunct art instructor for Willamette University during
the last ten years.
